The gallery WHA sees itself as an experimental author gallery of the Art University Linz and shows current projects of the students in short intervals.
The name of the gallery WHA is reminiscent of the 1959 founded, legendary scene meeting place in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen and Woody Allen made their first appearances here. Above all, the bar in the early fifties was already the "melting pot" of the BEAT GENERATION, whose protagonists met there for readings, performances and music jams. Actually, the improvised basement club should bear the name "WHAT", but the "T" of the shabby illuminated letters was lost
